operating procedure for Analytical Balance



I.                   PURPOSE

To lay down the operating procedure for Analytical Balance.

II.                SCOPE

This procedure is applicable for Analytical Balance used in Quality Control department at….

V.                PROCEDURE
1.0        Ensure that the working bench and instrument is clean.
2.0        Ensure the balance is calibrated.
3.0        Adjust the bubble in level indicator exactly at the middle of the circle by using level
foots.
4.0        Switch on the plug, allow the balance for some time for warm-up.
5.0        Press the ‘1/ φ’ key to turn the display on.
6.0        After the balance is turned on, automatic self test of the balance electronic circuitry will
be  performed.
7.0        After self test, zero read out is displayed. Now the balance is ready to operate.
8.0        Select g or mg by pressing ‘F’ key.    
9.0        Place the empty butter paper on the weighing pan, allow the balance to display unit.
10.0          Take the sample on butter paper and allow the balance to display unit.
11.0          Transfer the sample and place the butter paper on weighing pan.
12.0          Press ‘φ’ and press ‘Stat’ key to get the report.
13.0          Press ‘CF’ to clear the previous function.
14.0          Press ‘1/ φ’ key to off the balance.
15.0          Ensure that the instrument and surrounding area is clean.
