SOP FOR LAB CLEANING



I.                   PURPOSE
To describe the procedure for cleaning of lab.
II.                SCOPE
This procedure is applicable for cleaning of the workbenches, instruments, bottles, racks and furniture in Quality Control department, , Unit-V.
III.             RESPONSIBILITY

V.                PROCEDURE
1.0        Cleaning of work bench
1.1               Use only clean mops and dusters for cleaning purpose.
1.2               Remove the dust with the help of duster or moping cloth, if required use wet                     mop.
1.3              Collect the accumulated dust into a dustbin.
1.4              Empty the dustbin into the garbage area.
1.5              Collect the spilled chemicals separately and send for incineration.
1.6              Clean the sink with brush using soap solution. To remove stubborn stains, use
                  suitable solvent or acid.
1.7              Frequency: At the beginning and end of the general shift

2.0          Cleaning of instruments
                        2.1       Before cleaning, ensure that the instrument is switched off. While cleaning ensure                                     that the equipment is not disturbed.
2.2        Use dry mop to clean the instrument, if required use wet mop to remove the           stains on the instruments.
2.3        Use vacuum cleaner to remove the dust from backside of the instruments.
2.4        Frequency : Weekly
            3.0       Cleaning of bottles
3.1                  While cleaning the bottles, care should be taken to avoid breakage and see that the labels are not disturbed.
3.2                  Clean the bottles with dry mop, if required use wet mop.
3.3                  Frequency : Monthly
           4.0       Cleaning of racks
4.1              Before cleaning the racks, transfer the items carefully to a safe place.
4.2              While cleaning see that the labels are not disturbed.
4.3              Clean the racks with dry mop, if required use wet mop.
4.4              After cleaning, replace all the items.
4.5              Frequency : Quarterly
5.0       Cleaning of furniture
5.1       Clean the furniture with dry mop, if required use wet mop.
5.2       Frequency : Daily
5.3       Enter the cleaning details in Format No.: F01/SOPQC001-00.
