Flavonoids content



Method for the estimation of Flavonoids content

Reagent Required :
Ethyl acetate, distilled water,

Glasswares and Apparatus Required:
Measuring cylinder 100mL, separating funnel 250mL, beaker (100mL)
            
Procedure:
Dissolve 1.0 gm extract powder in 100mL water with stirring for 15 minutes. Extract the aqueous solution with 50mL, 25mL, 25mL of ethyl acetate. Collect the ethyl acetate phase and concentrate it in the pre weighed round bottom flask to a powder stage. Dry it in vacuum for 3 hours at 80oC. Keep in dessicator and weigh.

Calculation:-

Percentage of flavonoids may be calculated as:-

                                    wt. of powder   X    100           
                                    wt. of sample

                       
For raw material : 10gm sample (20 #) is to be taken in the case of raw material and the quantity of  water 100mL – 150mL . Rest of the method is same as above.
