The purpose of
this SOP is to provide a standard specification for various types of Personal
Protective Equipments, their usage and disposal method.

V.
PROCEDURE
1.0 After receiving new safety appliances,
they should be stored in Warehouse department.
2.0 Warehouse department should check the
safety appliances as per the specification in presence
of safety department person.
3.0 Defective appliances should be rejected
and returned to the supplier.
4.0 Certification for effectiveness and
fitness of safety appliances is to be
taken from the vendors.
5.0 After approval from safety department,
warehouse department should update the stock.
6.0 Usage
of PPE :
6.1 Warehouse issues the safety appliances to
user department on issue slip.
Note : Department head has to ensure that
required safety appliances are available in the department.
6.2 Safety appliances are to be used by
personnel as per the requirement of the process or operation at work.
6.3 Safety department should train the user
department persons on correct usage of appliances
by Safety department.
6.4 After use,wipe the following PPE with
cloth

6.6 For certain items, standards are available
like Indian Standard (IS) or European (EN)
in such cases, ensure the appliance is marked as above and certified.
7.0 Disposal
procedure
7.1 Before disposal, wash all the items
with water and drain the water to effluent treatment
plant.
7.2 The washed items should be disposed off as
per the procedure given in the below Table.

5.0
Maintenance:
5.1
All safety appliances are checked prior to use by user
& periodically by safety department for its suitability and working
condition.
5.2
If any of the appliances is found defective, it should
be discarded. Organic respirators are discarded after expiry date.
